I didn't buy a Smartphone before some years ago and then a smatphone with the best camera / USD was (and is) most important to me. To my children I say:
" I am looking for a camara that is not too expensive, with a good enough mobile phone."

Among the many links you will find one US university article that rated Huawei number 1 on Ai powered image recognition, so what could be better for me than buy a Huawei p20 light for less than USD 300. Years later, more precisely in 2021, I have upgraded to a Huawei P Smart 2021 with a good enough quad camera to my use, still for less than USD 300.
Sometimes good enough is best.
That phone is an Android phone without Google services that you have to install yourself. Go to YouTube / Google and make the following keyword search:

You may find an unstable solution. It may not function on software updates.

With a good quad camera, Vivladi (speed dial), Opera (AI powered news), Whatsapp ++, I have most of what I need for video recording , mobile browsing, surfing and communication.
