Finding news online.

There is a lot of online news channels. We have tried to collect a lot of important sources on this page.

Your browser can make you more efficient

Your browser is an excellent tool for making your search for information and news online efficient.

As an example, the Norwegian browser Opera has always been in the front on new features like tab stacking that this video

explains to you.

PC Magacine's Jeffrey L. Wilsonarticle wrote an article about tab stacking and visual mouse gestures in december 2010

In analogy with stacks of paper on your desk, tab stacking helps you to organize your tabs, by collecting related tabs into a group.

Some people are not aware that some browsers are more efficient thant other browsers. So using a good browser and the tools it offers may give you an edge in the hunt for the top stories.

The new Norwegian web browser Vivaldi

made by the same people that made Opera, takes tab stacking to a new level.

A birds eye view of the news on a newsmap.

One of the better sources that give you a birdsey view of world news is Newsmap, an application that visually reflects the constantly changing landscape of the Google News news aggregator.

A treemap visualization algorithm helps display the enormous amount of information gathered by the aggregator. Treemaps are traditionally space-constrained visualizations of information. Newsmap's objective takes that goal a step further and provides a tool to divide information into quickly recognizable bands which, when presented together, reveal underlying patterns in news reporting across cultures and within news segments in constant change around the globe.
Here is the newsmap and some related resources. Note that if you sign up, you can add news from additional countries. You sign up and customize the map in the upper left corner. At the bottom of the map you will see a Business, technology etc. cathegory. There are other similar maps, some of which you find in out link collection.

News are syndicated via rss so why not use an rss search engine?

On the internet, finding and using the best sources is also related to the tools you use and how you use and combine them.

A lot of news services offer rss resources of their news, so an rss search engine like rssmicro may give you some articles that is not so easily found on the internet.

As an example, in the spring and early summer of 2016 the Panama papers and documents are dominating the news. Try searchg for that term on rssmicro.

The Opera discovery or news feed feature.

Opera has something called discovery that is a news feed that pulls in from many different sources. More about the in this video:
