Invest / trade in commodities.

Prices on commodities and commodity futures have another chart pattern and psychology than stocks. The price may hibernate for a time, and then rally. Some are seasonal, others influenced by political decisions etc. Elliotticions are specialists on these (psychological) patterns.

You can invest in cattle without having to have your own your farm. Futures on cattle, is a security that can be traded like stocks. The professional investor / trader does it, why not you? The future may also be more liquid than the cash instrument. Options on these futures are an exciting oppourtunity for people taking calculated risk, because of the high leverage, but it is not for the lay man before he learn it, and educates himself. It is not enough to know various formulaes for pricing different options or compute the fair value of a future. In the end, the price is settled by demand and supply.

The price discovery is often done in the futures price, so for persons trading the cash instrument, it may be of great value to follow the futures price.
